Top Monthly Tune Recap – November 2016

It’s been a while party people. While I play catch up for the past few months, here’s a fresh recap for November. Enjoy <3

 

1. Breaux – Third Man


Genre: Trap

I absolutely love the trap spin on classic beats. If you want to be transported to the 20s, but a cooler, more futuristic version of the 20s, definitely give this tune a listen. I don’t know how Breaux does it, but he’s the man.

 

2. Kimyan Law – Yore Dub


Genre: Drum and Bass

Kimyan Law has to be one of my new favorite artists. This track is off his recently released album ‘Zawadi’. I love his African and Jungle influences.

 

3. Jax Jones – House Work (KC Lights Remix)


Genre: House

There are a few remixes out of this Jax Jones tune, but this is my favorite one. Recommended if you want to get your house dance on.

 

4. Lakuno – Echo (Ft. Bahar Dopran)


Genre: Trap

Most certainly one of the lesser aggressive trap tunes out there. One of my favorite parts of this tune is the vocal snippets.

 

5. Paul Woolford – Father


Genre: Electronica

This tune was recently released off Woolford’s aptly titled ‘Father, Son & Holy Ghost’ LP. A very spiritually charged tune.

 

6. A.G Cook – Superstar (Kattison Bootleg)


Genre: Dance

This month’s feel-good tune.

 

7. Moonwalk – Mirage


Genre: Tech House

If you’re looking to go on a journey through a tune, this would be it. Check out the awesome snares while you’re at it.

 

8. CVRL – Crossing


Genre: Electronica

This tune packs a chill, emotional punch. Recommended for long drives or sleepless nights.

 

9. BANKS – Gemini Feed (Swell Remix)


Genre: Trap

I’m a fan of the original BANKS tune, but this remix is pretty solid.

10. Closer Water (Kap Slap Mashup)


Genre: Dance

This is a pretty cool mashup of Halsey’s ‘Closer’ and Major Lazer’s ‘Cold Water’.

Top Monthly Tune Recap – June 2016

Happy Summer. Enjoy June’s top tune recap.

 

1. The M Machine – When It’s Gone (Mat Zo Remix)


Genre: Dance

I’ve been a while since I’ve heard a Mat Zo remix I really love. This is a fantastic tune sure to be on repeat.

 

2. Flux Pavilion – I Can’t Stop (Ekali Tribute)


Genre: Trap

Ekali’s trap spin on this tune is unreal. Be sure to put the volume up on this one.

 

3. Justin Bieber – Sorry (Elderbrook Cover)


Genre: Indie

Yes it’s a Bieber track. However, and a BIG however, this cover is wayyy better than the original tune. Have a listen – you’ll find it hard to disagree.

 

4. Laurence Guy – Wish I Knew


Genre: House

Perfect tune for an afternoon by the beach or lounge with your favorite cocktail. The combination of vinyl-scratch sounds, piano, and old school vocals are stunning.

 

5. RÜFÜS DU SOL – You Were Right (Louis Futon Remix)


Genre: Electronica

My favorite parts of this tune are when Futon hangs on certain beats before returning full force.

 

6. Illenium – Sleepwalker (Virtu Remix)


Genre: Future Bass

Lovely vocals plus bass drops make this one a winner.

 

7. James Bay – Let It Go (Vexaic Remix)


Genre: Dubstep

This is a beautiful chill dubstep remix.

 

8. Delta Heavy – White Flag VIP


Genre: Drum & Bass

I love the repeating vocals in this dnb tune.

 

9. YAKONA – Sonder


Genre: Techno

Definitely a darker vibe to this tune. The piano snippets are fantastic.

 

10. Rihanna – Desperado (Mike Metro Bootleg)


Genre: House

One of those tunes you just want to fill the room with and dance to. Enjoy!

Top Monthly Tune Recap – December 2015

Welcome to the last top ten for 2015! Enjoy December’s findings:

 

1. Dotan – 7 Layers (Sebastien Edit)


Genre: Deep House

Another fantastic re-up by Sebastien. I love the original song by Dotan but the deep house treatment takes this track to another level. Something about the lyric “I was a stranger in my own skin” also gets me every time.

 

2. Justin Bieber – Sorry – North Base Bootleg


Genre: Drum & Bass

One the best remixes of this tune. I give a lot of credit to North Base for making me like a beebs track hah

 

3. Kastis Torrau – Cold Water


Genre: Tech House

I became a fan of Kastis since I heard him on Max Graham’s Cycles Radio. This is one of his newest tunes and it doesn’t disappoint. Love the spacey feel.

 

4. A Fine Way To Die (GRiZ Remix)


Genre: Future Funk

Admittedly I don’t feature much funk on my countdowns, but this is an exception. The combination of guitars, vocals, and brass plus a future feel make this a great tune.

 

5. Rae Sremmurd – This Could Be Us (Arman Cekin & unknown Remix)


Genre: Trap

I’m becoming a fan of Rae Sremmurd. This is a great trap remix of an already great tune. Turn the volume on your speakers up.

 

6. Supermode – Tell Me Why (T-Mass Remix)


Genre: Trap

I can’t believe the original version of this is almost ten years old. T-Mass puts a great trap spin on this classic tune.

 

7. Eagles & Butterflies – We Get High feat. J.U.D.G.E


Genre: Deep House

A darker, more chill track with beautiful vocals. Not a dance number, but more of a relax and listen tune.

 

8. LSB – The Hurting (Lenzman remix)


Genre: Drum & Bass

A great Lenzman remix. Minimal soulful vocals + dnb = winner.

 

9. Meramek – Know Me


Genre: House

I’ve been waiting for a follow up to ‘Only You’ and this is it. Another great house tune from Meramek. I want to be on a dancefloor in dimly lit club with this one.

 

10. SAINT WKND Feat. INGLSH – Lost (Runaway)


Genre: Deep House

Getting some serious Cali vibes from this tune. I love the vocals by INGLSH and the lyrics really pull at the heart.

Top Tune Recap – April 2015

Welcome to April’s top track recap. I hope you enjoy the selections that made the cut:

1. John Cosani – Spaceman (Kastis Torrau Remix)
Genre: Progressive
I first heard this at Max Graham’s live broadcast of Cycles Radio #200. Since then, it’s been in regular listening rotation for me.

2. Röyksopp – I Had This Thing (Sebastien Remix)
Genre: House
Sebastien’s remix builds on top of an already solid base. I love the serious lyrics combined with a perfect house beat, and beautiful piano cuts.

3. Hardsoul & Roog “Über” (Fisher & Fiebak 2k15 Remix)
Genre: House
A great house track for your summer dance party.

4. PHANTAFOX – Love The Noise (The Voyagers Remix)
Genre: House
I like the vocals and the uk garage bits mixed in.

5. Unlike Pluto & KickRaux – Palace
Genre: Dance
Certified track to get your dance on to. Check out the cool electronic harp-like sounds.

6. Robert Vadney – Declin3
Genre: Trance
A recent Robert Vadney release with a classic trance vibe.

7. The Antlers – Doppelganger (Daniel Lanois Anti-Thesis Remix)
Genre: Alternative
Something different for this month’s countdown. A beautiful slow piece featuring great trumpet and violin work.

8. In The Valley Below – Peaches (Mats Alexander Bootleg Remix)
Genre: Deep House
My favorite thing about this remix is the subtle echo effect on the vocals. Check it out.

9. Stargliders & Seawayz – Sundiving
Genre: Trance
Really enjoyed the summer feel to this one.

10. My Digital Enemy – Shamen (Ben Ashton Remix)
Genre: Deep House
I love the Native American sounding vocal bits in this. A very spiritual, uplifting deep house track.
