Top Monthly Tune Recap – February 2019

You patiently waited. Music is on the way! Here it is:

Part One

1. Matt Fax – To The Ground

Genre: House

I’ve been a fan of Matt forever, and by forever, he’s extremely young so maybe not that long. Over the last few years, he’s developed a great ability to evoke emotions through his tracks. His later tracks feel much smoother and impactful.

2. Me & My Toothbrush – Just Release Me

Genre: House

I love the vocal intro to this solid house tune. Get ready to hit the repeat button.

3. Niko The Kid – Sorry Not Sorry Feat. Brayton Bowman

Genre: Nu-Disco

The type of tune when you’re feeling yourself and want a little extra pep in that step. As a result, I dare you not to walk with a little more swagger.

4. Sammy Deuce & Sebb Junior – Elevate The Groove

Genre: Indie Dance / Nu-Disco

In anticipation of summer (it’s been a long winter for NYers folks!), I’ve been tuning into feel good tunes. Another dance-worthy tune right here.

5. ilan Bluestone feat. EL Waves – Mama Africa (Extended Mix)

Genre: Trance

It’s been a while since I’ve heard a proper Trance tune I’d want to listen to over and over again. Ilan was able to masterfully weave in a global feel and solid lyrics.

Part Two

6. Crooked Colours – Do It Like You (Mickey Kojak Remix)

Genre: Electronic

Solid remix of the original tune.

7. MERCER – Your Love (Original Mix)

Genre: Nu-Disco

As mentioned, in anticipation of Summer’s arrival, another kickin’ disco tune.

8. Serious (with Matthew Koma) (TWO LANES Remix)

Genre: Dance

Everything about this tune screams young love. If you’re longing to go down memory lane or just a young kid in love, here ya go.

9. Just Kiddin – Come Together (Club Mix – Extended)

Genre: House

I love the minimal vocal hook for this tune.

10. Win & Woo – Right In Front of Me Ft. Kaleena Zanders

Genre: Dance

Solid club tune with deeper vocals.

As usual, don’t forget to visit thistune.rocks where I post all the tunes I’m listening to. Peace!

Top Monthly Tune Recap – February 2017

Greetings party people. Without further ado, I present my top tune recap for the month of February. Enjoy!

1. JOYRYDE – Hot Drum

Genre: Future House

JOYRYDE is my favorite artist of the year so far (it’s only February). The best part of this tune is where the drums kick in. Go, listen, now!

2. Mosa Wild – Smoke

Genre: Indie

I’m a big fan of the band The National and Mosa Wild definitely parallels that band. The beauty of this tune lies in the emotion it evokes – particularly that of loss.

3. Shout (Grum Remix)

Genre: Trance

This is a really great trance take on the classic Tears for Fears tune ‘Shout’.

4. Lane 8 – In My Arms

Genre: House

Lane8 has been featured in my countdowns a few times and for good reason. His production skills are amazing. His latest track features a beautiful blend of synths and minimal vocals.

5. Nora En Pure – Diving With Whales (Daniel Portman Remix)

Genre: Progressive House

Nora En Pure tunes are already perfection. This remix does the original tune justice, maintaining much of its’ original beauty, with subtle tweaks.

6. Jynx – Honey

Genre: House

This tune is off the latest EP Saffron City. Definitely one of the edge cases where a choppy composition and disjointedness work.

7. Hervé – My Love feat. Phizzals (KC Lights Remix)

Genre: House

A bouncy house tune remix. Time to dance.

8. Maroon 5 – Cold (Audio) ft. Future

Genre: Pop

What drew me most to this tune were the relatable lyrics. There are many of us out there that have been through confusing or failed relationships, often times the other party creeping away for what seems like no good reason. Check out the lyric snippet:

Are we taking time, or a time out?
I can’t take the in-between
Asking me for space here in my house
You know how to f*k with me

9. Gladiator – Sierra

Genre: Trap

You’ll want to put the volume up for this fresh trap tune.

10. Blvmenkind – Dream With You (feat. Sam Darton)

Genre: Electronic

Fans of ambient or chill music will enjoy this tune. I love the dreamy vocals. This is the perfect track for a long drive or a lounge on the beach.

I absolutely love this remix – in fact I think I’ve had it on repeat for a while. The dance spin and little unique sounds make this one a real winner.

Genre: House

House tune with a classic feel – reminds me of 90s house tunes.

Genre: Dance

A very dreamy take on the original tune.

6. Elderbrook X Andhim – How Many Times (KANT Remix)

I always worry when remixes come out for tunes that sound amazing in their original forms. This remix however keeps the essence of the original and also sounds great.

Genre: Deep House

Tunes that progress through peaks and valleys are the best. Enjoy this deep house tune that does exactly that.

Genre: Electronic

A very soulful, chill tune. This is one is definitely more of a meditative tune.

9. Mura Masa – Your Bones (Khamsin Remix)

Genre: Electronic

A deep take on the original tune.

10. Sinden & Herve – Hit & Run

Genre: House

Great house tune with cool bits of guitar strums and old computerized sounds.

1. Fausttt – La Tengo

Genre: Trap

Dear god, the bass. The bass! Enough said…

Genre: Trance

Fantastic progressive vibe on this tune. It sounds really otherwordly, which is a cool positive.

Another great bass track. I love the vocals by Luke.

Genre: House

It is a requisite to have at least one dance worthy tune on this countdown. Spada achieves that with this remix.

9. Eekkoo – Warren Avenue

Based on the origins of techno. Solid production behind this tune.

10. James Hype – Still Want Me

Top Tune Recap – May 2015

Welcome to May’s top track recap. Here we go:

1. CHPLN – People I Know
Genre: Indie, Pop
I’ve waited a bit of time for the next release from CHPLN. They didn’t disappoint with this solid dance track. I’m eagerly awaiting their stateside appearance.

2. Sound Quelle – Allarg
Genre: Trance
What is the meaning of life? Is there life outside of Earth? Ok, maybe that’s a bit too deep, but between the piano riffs and string-like sounds, this definitely reaches the soul and makes for great thinking music (whatever you like to think about).

3. Bontan – Firefly
Genre: House
Bontan can do no wrong. Another certified house hit right here.

4. Clean Bandit – Stronger – CamelPhat Dark Dub
Genre: Tech House
One of those songs that start off innocent enough, then just catapults you in a different direction. Fantastic remix of an already great track.

5. OMVR – Hold You Back (Funkin Matt Remix)
Genre: House
Another dance worthy house remix.

6. On and On – Drifting (Duncan Murray Remix)
Genre: Deep House
Love the low key vibe of this one. Perfect for a long drive with the windows down.

7. Dear David – I’ve Been Waiting (Romez & Damark Remix)
Genre: House
Counting down until I hear this in a lounge or club. Great track to fill a room and get your dance on.

8. Brasstracks – We’re Back Tho
Genre: Future Jazz (sure, let’s go with that)
This duo is back at it again. If you like the sounds of trumpets, horns, and drum beats with modern flair, this is the track for you.

9. Mâhfoud – The Giant (Francois Rengere Remix)
Genre: Electronica
This was a great intro track to the work of François Rengère. The Giant remix features really cool background sounds (including one creepy creak) and tinkers around the right amount of dark.

10. Hunter Siegel – Let Me Love You Right (Ft. Kai)
Genre: House
This Canadian duo pushed out a big hit full of great vocals and bass.

Top Tune Recap – March 2015

Welcome to March’s top track recap. I swear it gets harder and harder each month to narrow down to ten tracks. Without further delay, here we go:

1. Andrew Bayer feat. Asbjørn – Super Human
Genre: Trance
I’ve been eagerly awaiting Bayer’s next album since “If It Were You, We’d Never Leave”. This track dropped in anticipation of “Do Androids Dream” due out in April.

2. Sasse : 1983 (Dosem Remix)
Genre: Deep House
Groove…clap clap…groove…clap clap. Definitely a funky one with a load of bass!

3. Machel Montano & Sean Paul ft. Major Lazer – One Wine
Genre: Soca
So I had to throw something different in the mix. Straight off the 2015 Carnival circuit, One Wine features a catchy soca beat with some Major Lazer treatment, and great sound from Machel and Sean.

4. Shake Shake Go – England Skies (Epic Empire Remix)
Genre: Pop / Indie / Bass
I am not sure which genre this track falls under, but I can tell you it’s highly catchy and will be on repeat. The vocal snippets are lovely.

5. Matt Fax – Going Down / Hyperspace EP
Genre: Trance
Yess, the return of Matt Fax. Matt dropped off for a bit, but glad to see his return with the Going Down / Hyperspace EP. Hyperspace is the type of track that made me fall in love with Matt’s music to begin with.

6. Flite – Dive
Genre: Drum & Bass
Dive is both a beautiful and calming drum and bass track. Get ready for a melodic journey.

7. Jonas Woehl – Finding The Others
Genre: Deep House
Finding The Others is the title track of Woehl’s EP. It features the right blend of deep sounds, mixed in with vocals. I recommend checking out the rest of this EP as well.

8. Jaymes Young – I’ll Be Good (Thero Remix)
Genre: Tropical House
Time to soak up the sun. I’ve featured quite a bit of tracks with vocal work this month – this is no exception. Jaymes Young sounds fantastic on this one.

9. Magnifik Ft. Cam Nacson – I Miss You So Bad (Diamond Lights Remix)
Genre: Deep House
Can you say basement party? Just the type of track to get your sweat on in a crowded room with a banging sound system.

10. LTN Feat. Arielle Maren – Let Me Go (Vintage & Morelli Remix)
Genre: Prog House
Solid remix treatment here. Arielle’s vocals are also amazing.
